Driven by nature.
Gull is New Zealand’s original biofuel retailer, introducing a greener way of driving to Kiwi motorists in 2007. Our biofuel* is produced from renewable and sustainable sources - not extracted from the ground like other fossil fuels.
Gull retails two types of biofuel.
Our tankers collect ethanol as part of a return trip route, adding no extra carbon footprint to this production process.
Ethanol is found in many gasoline mixtures worldwide. In Brazil, gasoline contains at least 85% ethanol. In other countries, ethanol usually makes up between 10 and 15% of gasoline. New cars today are designed to enjoy a healthy amount of ethanol in their diet and actually get a good kick out of it.
Force 10 is 10% bioethanol. That’s 10% of your fuel that doesn’t need to be imported or pumped out of the ground. This takes pressure off our overall carbon footprint and helps keep our country clean and green.
We don't believe in wasting food or extra space and resources to produce our biofuel. The ethanol we use is sustainably sourced through a waste by-product from the dairy industry and we produce our biodiesel from used cooking oil, from good old fish & chips. We have even brewed a special fuel batch with our friends at DB, to create the world's first biofuel from a beer waste by-product. We are proud to say it is an award winning brew. Gull has sold over 300 million litres of biofuel blends. This has delivered the equivalent of an emission reduction of 67,000 tonnes of carbon (via the Emissions Trading Scheme measure). That’s enough mineral fuel savings to drive around the earth 7,500 times!

Gull Diesel Max combines our state of the art Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel with renewable fuel (biodiesel) to give you the perfect blend of performance and lower carbon dioxide emissions.
The biodiesel in Gull Diesel Max is a renewable, sustainable fuel that is manufactured from used cooking oil and blended right here in New Zealand to meet or exceed New Zealand fuel regulations as well as international specifications. Gull Diesel Max incorporates up to 5% biodiesel, ensuring that your vehicle creates fewer carbon emissions (greenhouse gases).
The guys over at DB Export came to us with an idea; to make a cleaner 98 octane fuel using natural beer waste extracted during the brewing process. As New Zealand’s leading biofuels retailer, of course we were more than happy to help!
We provided a little advice along the way and helped DB Export refine the ethanol to the same high standard as that used when we make Gull Force 10. The refined ethanol was stored at our Mt Maunganui terminal facility where it is now being blended with premium petrol to make DB Export Brewtroleum, a high performance 98 octane fuel.
